Automatic shutdown...at 1 pm?

I'm sure you know what I'm talking about-you get on your computer, it's about 10 pm and suddenly you look back up at the clock and it's about 2 am. Between facebook and youtube and who knows what else you're going to feel totally wasted tomorrow. Well, maybe that's not you-but I end up doing this all the time.

So last week, I decided enough is enough! This isn't going to happen anymore. I decided to set my computer to automatically turn off at 1 am to combat by complete lack of self control. This was surprisingly easy! No messing around with registries and awkward text files. If you would be interested in doing that to your own computer check out The Spinning Donut for easy instructions for Window 7, Vista, or for XP (the instructions even have pictures!). If you're on a Mac or using Linux, I'm afraid you're just going to have to Google it for yourself.

Of course for the week after, it didn't seem to be working-again I would found myself online way past the 1 am mark. I had no idea what I had done wrong...that is until I was working on my computer this afternoon and at precisely 1 pm a message box pops up, warning me that my computer would be shutting off in about a minute.

Ah.

So it works perfectly if you're not an idiot...
